XR in Thingvellir and Hofsstaðir

Gagarin Interactive has developed XR experiences for several cultural heritage projects in Iceland. Two specific outdoors sites, Thingvellir and Hofsstaðir in Garðabær, where visitors can look into the past are highlighted in this talk. Each site has a different approach for technology used to create the XR experiences.

Event hosted by the Centre for Digital Humanities and Arts (https://www.mshl.is) and the Gunnar Gunnarsson Institute (https://www.skriduklaustur.is/is/gunnarsstofnun).

After studying the resource, students should be able to:

  • understand the use of extended reality (XR) in outdoor heritage sites;
  • be acquainted with different technologies for XR applications and how they can be used.
